Wildland Fire Team
Expert Response to Wildland Fires
The wildland fire team is composed of over 80 dedicated firefighters who have achieved certification through the National Wildland Coordination Group, enabling them to respond effectively to wildland fires across the nation. Each member participates in a mandatory annual refresher course and undergoes a thorough fitness assessment to ensure they are prepared for the challenges they may face. The team’s primary objective is to provide expert response capabilities for wildland fires and wildland-urban interface incidents within our jurisdiction and in nearby regions. A vital aspect of the team’s mission is to share their extensive knowledge and expertise through training initiatives within our department. Additionally, our team members are committed to deploying locally, regionally, and nationally to support efforts in combating significant wildfires, facilitated by cooperative agreements with state and federal land management agencies. These deployments offer invaluable opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and gain practical experience. Team members may serve on Type 6 Engines or Type 1 Tactical Tenders and can also be assigned as “single resources” to assist various operational functions during wildland fire incidents.
