Water Rescue

The Greeley Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team is committed to delivering prompt and dependable responses to water rescue and recovery incidents that may affect both residents and visitors of the City of Greeley. This dedicated team proudly extends its rescue and recovery services throughout Weld County. Each member is trained and certified as Public Safety Divers and Swift Water Technicians, ensuring a high standard of preparedness.

Recognizing the diverse water environments in the region, the Water Rescue Team is equipped to address a variety of rescue and recovery scenarios, including:

- Surface Water Rescue: Conducted on the surface of lakes, ponds, and other still water bodies.
- Swift-water Rescue: Implemented in rivers, irrigation ditches, and other moving water scenarios.
- Underwater Rescue: Involves search patterns to locate individuals experiencing near-drowning incidents.
- Sonar Searches: Carried out from the surface using sonar technology to identify submerged objects and victims.
- Ice Rescue**: Executed on frozen bodies of water or in cold water environments.
- Evidence Recovery: Supports law enforcement agencies in crime scene investigations, assisting in the recovery of vehicles and evidence as needed.

All personnel within the fire department receive thorough training in surface support and are certified as Ice Rescue Technicians. Additionally, every team member undergoes awareness-level training for swift water incidents. These comprehensive qualifications enable the department to offer exemplary service in a diverse array of water-related emergencies. By fostering this extensive training and certification process, the Greeley Fire Department is well-prepared to respond effectively to any water incident.
