UPDATE - Saturday Evening Shooting Claims the Life of 19-Year-Old Greeley Man
GREELEY, Colo. – This is an update to an initial press release that can be found at https://greeleypd.com/saturday-evening-shooting-claims-the-life-of-19-year-old-greeley-man/. On Saturday, November 2, at approximately 7:10 p.m., Greeley Police officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of 9th Ave on reports of a shooting with one person injured. When officers arrived on scene, they immediately located a male victim lying in the roadway suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers summoned EMS units while providing life saving measures to the victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The victim was later identified as Jesus Solis, 19. The suspect in this case was identified as Marco Ruiz-Villescaz, 19. Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Ruiz-Villescaz on several charges including Murder in the Second Degree. With the assistance of Greeley Police SWAT Officers, Ruiz-Villescaz was taken into custody on Wednesday, November 6, without incident, and booked into the Weld County Jail. Even though Ruiz-Villescaz is in custody, the investigation into the exact events that led to the murder are still being investigated.
