Suspect That Caused Serious Greeley Vehicle Collision Dies From Injuries
GREELEY, Colo. – This is a follow up to an initial press release posted on July 8, 2024 – “Suspect Fleeing in Stolen Vehicle Causes Serious Traffic Collision.” That release can be found in the Media Releases section of the Greeley Police Department website at https://GreeleyPD.com/Media-Releases. The suspect in the initial press release, Jose Sambrano, 33, was declared clinically brain dead by professional medical personnel today. The diagnosis was due to the severe injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle collision on July 7, 2024, while attempting to flee from Greeley Police officers. Since the collision, Sambrano had been in the intensive care unit of a local hospital on life support. Sambrano was removed from advanced life support measures by his family and passed away shortly after. The occupants of the vehicle Sambrano collided with sustained minor to severe injuries. Thankfully, all of the occupants are expected to make a full recovery. The Greeley Police Department Traffic Unit is leading the investigation due to the serious nature of the injuries sustained by the occupants. We will release additional information when appropriate. If you witnessed this collision and have not spoken with officers, please contact Officer Wegscheider at (970) 350-9605.
