Police Seek Information on Fatal Hit and Run in Greeley
GREELEY, Colo. – On December 4, 2023, at approximately 12:03 AM, officers from the Greeley Police Department, as well as Greeley Fire and EMS units, were dispatched to the area of 8th Avenue and 23rd Street in reference to a traffic accident involving a bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle. While en route to the accident, officers were informed the vehicle that struck the cyclist had fled the scene in an unknown direction. Officers arrived on scene and found a male in the roadway with severe injuries. Officers immediately began performing life-saving measures on the victim to include CPR. EMS units arrived on scene to provide advanced medical care and transport the victim to a local hospital. The male victim was pronounced deceased a short time later at the hospital. Multiple blocks of 8th Avenue were shut down for hours while our officers were investigating the scene. But that section of 8th Avenue has since been reopened. The suspect’s vehicles and the suspects have not been located yet. Evidence collected on scene leads investigators to believe the suspect’s vehicle may be a 2017 – 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, with front end damage. No additional information will be released today. If you have any information about this case, the hit and run vehicle or driver, and have not been interviewed by officers, please contact GPD Officer Doug Medhurst at 970-351-5369.
