Juvenile Inmate Found Unresponsive in October, Passes Away on Tuesday
GREELEY, Colo. – On Monday, October 21, 2024, Greeley Police Officers were called to Platte Valley Youth Services, located at 2200 O Street, Greeley, Colorado, to aid in investigating a suspected contraband narcotic found within the facility. The Greeley Police Department is the investigating police agency for new criminal acts that happen at and inside the facility. At approximately 6:48 am, staff discovered a 16-year-old male unconscious in his room and immediately called 911. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on the scene and transported the youth to the hospital. Greeley Police Officers were called by Platte Valley Youth Services staff approximately four hours later for assistance securing the scene and investigating as soon as possible due to the seriousness of the youth’s medical status. Detectives from the Greeley Police Investigations Unit responded to investigate the circumstances that led to his medical emergency. The 16-year-old male remained in a Denver-area children’s hospital following his transport on October 21st. On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, investigators were informed that he had passed away. This is an active investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.
