This press release is being distributed on behalf of the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT).

[Firestone, Colo.] – On March 29, 2026, at approximately 12:25pm, a Colorado Parks and Wildlife Ranger initiated a traffic stop on an individual driving in the St. Vrain State Park, in Firestone, Colo. The Ranger attempted to take the suspect into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence. The suspect resisted arrest and a struggle ensued. The Ranger requested backup from nearby law enforcement agencies. The Ranger sustained minor injuries.

A police officer from the Dacono Police Department arrived on scene. The suspect continued to refuse to follow the officer’s commands, and the Dacono Police Officer fired a Taser at the suspect. The Taser was effective and caused the suspect to fall backwards, hitting his head. The suspect was provided medical treatment and transported to a nearby hospital. The suspect is currently in serious condition.
