Man Stabbed in East Greeley

GREELEY, Colo. – On Thursday, March 26, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Greeley Police officers responded to a reported stabbing.

Initial investigation found that a 23-year-old man was stabbed during an altercation with 28-year-old JS Bereichy outside the Dollar General at 1412 8th Avenue. Following the incident, Bereichy fled the scene. The victim moved toward a nearby daycare, where bystanders called for emergency assistance. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Due to the proximity to the ABC East Child Development Center, the facility was placed in a Secure Status at 4:55 p.m. as a precaution. Once investigators determined the suspect was no longer in the immediate area, the secure status was lifted at 5:15 p.m.

Police located Bereichy at a residence in the 1400 block of 7th Avenue and arrested him without incidence. He faces charges of assault resulting in serious bodily injury, a class three felony and menacing, a class five felony. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses.
