Two Killed in West Greeley Traffic Crash
GREELEY, Colo. – On Saturday, February 28, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Greeley Police officers responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision at 95th Avenue and Weld County Road 54 (37th Street). Initial investigations indicate that a semi-truck pulling a trailer, operated by a 42-year-old male from Gilcrest, was traveling westbound on WCR 54. As the semi slowed to turn south onto 95th Avenue, a Subaru WRX traveling behind the truck failed to reduce speed and struck the rear of the trailer. The impact of the collision caused the Subaru to catch fire.
The driver of the Subaru, a 49-year-old woman from Loveland, as well as the passenger, a 36-year-old man from Loveland, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities will be released by the Weld County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the semi remained on-site and is cooperating with the investigation.
This is an ongoing investigation. No further information will be released today.
