Pedestrian Dead After Running Into Highway Traffic
GREELEY, Colo. — On Monday, January 5, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Greeley Police officers responded to an accident involving a pedestrian and multiple vehicles in the 5500 block of Highway 34.
Initial investigation indicates a 19-year-old woman was attempting to cross the highway in an unmarked area with no crosswalk, when she was struck by the driver’s side of a Chevrolet Blazer, driven by a 54-year-old man. The impact sent the victim into the inside lane of traffic, where she was then struck by a Chevrolet Traverse, driven by a 37-year-old woman.
First responders initiated life-saving measures on the victim, who was then transported to North Colorado Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Her name will be released by the Weld County Coroner’s Office. Neither of the drivers were injured.
A witness to the accident observed the woman cross the roadway as traffic arrived at her location. At this time no charges against the drivers are anticipated, however the case remains under investigation. We are asking anyone with information on this case to contact Officer Ed Kubala at Edward.Kubala@greeleypd.com.
No further details will be released today.
