Police Search for Suspect in Attempted Homicide Case
UPDATE: David Anthony Rios, 48, who was wanted in connection with stabbing his ex-girlfriend in early January, was located and arrested in the early morning hours of January 14, 2026.

Police Search for Suspect in Attempted Homicide Case
GREELEY, Colo. – On Sunday, January 4, at approximately 11:10 am, Greeley Police responded to the 1200 Block of 5th Street in response to reports of an assault.
Preliminary investigation determined that a 44-year-old victim was at her residence when her 48-year-old ex-boyfriend arrived and assaulted her with a knife in the kitchen. During the attack, the victim’s 56-year-old brother attempted to intervene and also sustained injuries.
The woman managed to escape to a neighbor’s house, but the suspect followed and continued the attack before fleeing the scene. His vehicle was later found abandoned in the 1300 block of 4th Street. Police continue to search for the suspect. At this time, there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.
The victim was transported to North Colorado Medical Center, where she underwent surgery for more than 16 stab wounds and remains in critical but stable condition.
The suspect, David Anthony Rios, is currently outstanding and wanted for crimes in connection with this assault.
