CIRT team investigates officer-involved shooting in Severance

This press release is being distributed on behalf of the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT). 

[Severance, Colo.] – The 19th Judicial CIRT team is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred today at approximately 9:00pm on Dec. 9. 

Shortly before the shooting, officers with the Severance Police Department responded to a domestic incident in the 600 block of Mt. Princeton Drive. The 33-year-old male suspect was seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the driveway of the residence and was armed with multiple weapons. 

An officer at the scene fired one shot, striking the suspect. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team will be handling this investigation. In accordance with department policy and procedures, the officer will be placed on paid administrative leave following this incident.
