Woman Dies Five Days After Being Hit by Underage Drunk Driver
GREELEY, Colo. — On Sunday, November 9, at approximately 5:45a.m., Greeley Police officers responded to an accident at the intersection of 23rd Avenue and 10th Street. Eduardo Parra-Corral, 19, was driving a Ford Mustang eastbound on 10th Street, traveling at speeds in excess of 100mph when he ran the red light at 23rd Avenue. The Mustang collided with a Subaru Impreza, driven by a 27-year-old woman.
The victim was transported to North Colorado Medical Center in critical condition. She passed away Nov. 14 from injuries sustained from the accident. Her name will be released by the Weld County Coroner’s Office.
Parra-Corral, who only suffered from minor injuries, was initially arrested on charges of Driving a Vehicle without a Valid Driver’s License, Possession or Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and Vehicular Assault. He is now additionally being charged with vehicular homicide.
The Mustang’s passenger, Omar Perea-Burciaga, 20, was taken to NCMC for minor injuries and was subsequently taken into custody for falsely reporting identifying information and a previous warrant for a hit and run traffic accident. We are asking anybody with information on this case to contact Officer Ed Kubala at Edward.Kubala@greeleypd.com.
This is an ongoing investigation and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty. No further details will be released today.
