Child Sexual Abuse Material Sent Through Mail to Greeley Residents
GREELEY, Colo. – On September 3rd, Greeley Police responded to multiple calls from Greeley residents stating they received child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in the mail.
The explicit material was accompanied by threats demanding the recipients pay in crypto-currency to avoid being reported to the FBI and Department of Homeland Security for possession of child sexual abuse material.
The mail was delivered via the United States Postal Service and had no return address, however, the stamps are consistent and pictured below. The letters are believed to have originated in Canada.
The Greeley Police Department urges the community to be cognizant of the mail they receive. If you suspect you have received mail with child sexual abuse material, do not open it, and contact the police immediately. Do not make any form of payment to the suspect(s), and do not distribute the material.
This is an ongoing investigation. If you have any information on these cases, contact the non-emergency number at 970-350-9600.
No further details will be released today.
