One Arrested in Vandalism of Mobile Radar Van
GREELEY, Colo. – On September 3rd, at approximately 7:00a.m., a Greeley Police Department Photo Enforcement vehicle was deployed in a designated school zone in the 2000 block of 16th Street. During vehicle operation, an individual approached and inflicted both violent harm and vandalism.
Stationary cameras from the Real Time Information Center captured the suspect, identified Greeley resident Dillan Roker, 27, throwing a 10-pound rock through a window of the enforcement vehicle. A photo enforcement technician was in the vehicle during the vandalism and suffered minor injuries. The damage caused to the vehicle was estimated to be $2,600.
Roker attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended a short distance away. He was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Weld County Jail.
Roker faces charges of: Attempted 1st Degree Assault (Class 4 Felony), Criminal Mischief (Class 6 Felony) and 3rd Degree Assault (Class 1 Misdemeanor). Additionally, Roker had an active warrant for his arrest for an unrelated misdemeanor.
Our top priority is safety for our school zones and community. Any acts of violence against officers, city employees or public safety equipment put our staff, as well as the public, at risk. We are grateful for the swift actions of our patrol officers in taking Roker into custody. Additionally, we are relieved that our technician did not suffer from more serious injuries during the incident.
This investigation is ongoing. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty. No further details will be released today.
