The recruitment and selection process is designed to be open, fair, and thorough, ensuring the City of Greeley selects the best possible City Manager. The process will reflect the City’s vision and the community’s values.

Employees, community members, and City Council will be involved throughout the process, with multiple opportunities to provide input. Candidates will be evaluated using clear, consistent criteria, and the City will follow ethical and transparent hiring practices every step of the way.

  1. November- Acting City Manager Appointment:
    Council appointed Brian McBroom as the Acting City Manager to ensure continuity of leadership while the national recruitment process is underway.
  2. December- Screening Committee & Recruitment Planning:
    1. A screening committee made up of residents, City employees, and members of City Council was formed.
    2. The City hired MGT, an experienced recruitment firm that specializes in finding executives for cities. MGT interviewed the City Manager’s Office and City Council to gather information about the candidate they are looking for.
    3. An employee visioning exercise was conducted to gather more information to support the national recruitment search.
    4. The City Manager job description and recruitment strategy was also finalized
  3. January- Executive Recruitment Partnership:
    The City of Greeley City Manager position was posted, starting a national recruitment campaign to search for qualified candidates.
  4. February through March- Candidate Screening & Interviews
    The screening committee will review all applications and narrow the pool to approximately 10–12 qualified candidates. City Council will then interview candidates and select 3–5 to move forward, whose names and information will be shared with the public.
  5. April- Community Input & Engagement
    Public feedback is vital. Residents, employees, and community stakeholders will be invited to meet the candidates, ask questions, and provide feedback. More details on involvement opportunities can be found here.
  6. May- Final Selection by City Council
    Following a comprehensive national search and reviewing community input, the Greeley City Council will select and appoint the next City Manager. This leader will be ready to guide Greeley into its next era of growth and innovation.
