As Halloween fades and storefronts swap pumpkins for pine trees, few people realize that Greeley has long been home to one of the most iconic names in Halloween manufacturing. For more than 40 years, Distortions Unlimited has been designing and manufacturing world-class animatronics, props, and masks, right here in our own backyard.

Owned by Ed and Marsha Edmunds, Distortions Unlimited has built a global reputation from a small facility in Greeley, turning a passion for the strange and spectacular into a thriving business. Their creations have appeared in haunted attractions, theme parks, music videos, and films, but their roots remain deeply local. Many in the community may recognize their work from Greeley’s annual Monster Day celebration, but few realize the company has been a steady employer and creative force in the city for decades.

What makes Distortions Unlimited especially notable is that their success has been entirely homegrown. Distortions Unlimited continues to invest in their business, create jobs, and contribute to Greeley’s economy through sheer creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Representing a unique kind of manufacturing, one that blends artistry with industry, and imagination with impact.

Their influence extends beyond their products. For nearly a decade, the Edmunds have been the driving force behind Monster Day, helping it grow into one of downtown Greeley’s most beloved events. The celebration has brought thousands of visitors to the city, supported local nonprofits, and added a distinctly Greeley flair to the Halloween season. Next year will mark their 10th and final year leading the event, a milestone that reflects both their dedication and the legacy they’ve helped build.

Distortions Unlimited is more than a business, they’re a cornerstone of Greeley’s creative economy and a reminder that innovation often comes from the most unexpected places. Their story is one of vision, resilience, and the kind of quiet impact that shapes a community over time.
