New Swim Lesson Offerings
We know that Colorado residents are all about the outdoors. That’s why Greeley Recreation is committed to ensuring you and your family are safe in the water. Whether that be in the pool, river or at the lake.
To better meet our customers’ needs, in addition to our regular swim lesson progression, we’ve launched some new programs:
Homeschool Programs
For those parents who might be looking to fill the physical fitness requirement in the water, we have the following swim levels available:
Home School 1: Geared towards swimmers at Level 1 or 2, who may or may not be comfortable in the water, can enter and exit the water with support, open eyes underwater, beginning front and back crawl and roll over from back to front and float on their back with or without support.
Home School 2: For swimmers who are at Level 2 or Level 3, who can enter and exit independently, open eyes underwater, swim front and back crawl and know breaststroke arms and kick.
Home School 3: For swimmers who are Level 3, 4 or 5, who can swim front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke and elementary backstroke.
Bilingual Instructional Classes
We’ve hired swim instructors who will be offering Spanish Immersive Classes to help support non-English speaking family members. These instructors will be teaching lessons in Spanish at most swim levels:
Spanish Parent/Tot 1: This fun and supportive class teaches parents positive ways to safely work with their swimmers ages 6 months to 1.5 years in the water, explaining how to confidently hold and support their child, encourage participation, and introduce new water skills.
Spanish Parent/Tot 2: For little ones, ages 1.5 to 3 years old, swimmers will learn to enter the water safely, retrieve objects from below the surface, glide on their front and back and move their arms and legs together.
Spanish Preschool 1: Introduce children ages 2 to 4 to the by building comfort, confidence, and basic aquatic skills through engaging, play-based activities.
Spanish Preschool 2: Helps swimmers ages 4 and older develop positive attitudes and safe practices in and around the water through fun and confidence-building activities.
Spanish ADULT BASICS: This class provides a welcoming and supportive environment to gain confidence. This class is designed for adults ages 16 and older who want to develop essential water safety and swimming skills. It’s never too late to learn to swim!
Spanish LEVEL I: INTRODUCTION TO WATER SKILLS: Help swimmers ages 5 and up feel comfortable and confident in the water. In this class swimmer will learn basic swimming and safety skills, including entering the water, submerging, holding breath, floating, kicking, and arm movements with support.
Spanish LEVEL 2: FUNDAMENTAL AQUATIC SKILLS: For swimmers ages 5 and up, new skills introduced include bobbing, turning over, gliding, front and back crawl, treading water, and a sidestroke introduction.
Spanish LEVEL 3: STROKE DEVELOPMENT: Build on the skills in Level 2, learn new skills including deep water entries, survival float, dolphin kick, rotary breathing, and basic rescue skills.
