Closure of 8th Avenue and 10th Street Intersection Begins September 1

GREELEY, Colo. — Beginning Tuesday, September 1, the intersection of 8th Avenue and 10th Street will close for construction of new water and sewer infrastructure. The closure is expected to last several weeks.

The intersection may reopen at times as work allows. Lane closures may still be in place near the intersection.

Crews will also work north and south of 10th Street to connect new water lines to the existing system. Work areas and traffic routes may change as construction moves forward.

What to Expect

  • The 8th Avenue and 10th Street intersection will fully close starting Tuesday, September 1.
  • The intersection may reopen at times, but lane closures will continue.
  • Drivers coming from the south should use 13th Street to 11th Avenue.
  • Drivers coming from the north should use 5th Street to 11th Avenue.
  • Businesses, sidewalks and pedestrian access will remain open.
  • Parking lots will remain open and accessible.
  • Some street parking near the intersection may be temporarily unavailable.
  • Greeley-Evans Transit Route 4 and Stop 287 will be affected. Buses will detour using 6th Avenue and 8th Street through early October. Riders should check Greeley Transit for current route and stop information.

This work is part of the Downtown Infrastructure Improvements Project. The project is replacing and improving older water, sewer, and stormwater systems in downtown Greeley. It also includes improvements to roads, sidewalks, and streetscapes.
