The City of Greeley opened the new Brentwood Park playground on April 27, bringing a long-awaited upgrade to the neighborhood park. Students, neighbors and City staff gathered to mark the milestone.

The new playground replaces outdated and inaccessible play equipment. It provides an updated space for a range of ages and activities. The playground also serves as the main outdoor play space for Brentwood Middle School students. This makes it a shared space for both the school and the neighborhood.

Community and Student Input Shaped the Design

The final design was based on feedback from both the community and Brentwood Middle School students.

The City launched an online survey in September 2025 to gather community feedback. Residents said shade, easy access and play options for different ages were important.

Brentwood students also took part in an in-person voting activity. They reviewed four playground concepts and used stickers to choose their favorite. The concepts were given nicknames to help students imagine the play experience. Each option included the same play tower but different features like climbers, swings and obstacle courses.

After hundreds of votes, the “Epic” design was the clear favorite. It includes a large play tower, a pyramid net climber, an obstacle course, swings, a spinner and an accessible seesaw. These features support active and group play.

“It’s designed for all ages and is something the neighborhood can be proud of," said Greeley Parks Planner Aaron Wagner. "It’s built for all ages and gives the neighborhood something to be proud of.”

Ongoing Investment in Parks

The Brentwood Park playground replacement was funded through the Quality-of-Life tax. The City also saved nearly $100,000 on playground equipment through GameTime’s 2025 Grant Program, which allowed for additional play features.
