GREELEY, Colo. — At approximately 1:40 a.m., Greeley Fire Department units responded to an automatic fire alarm activation at Chinook Winds Apartments, located at 6622 10th Street. While en route, additional information indicated a fire inside the building; the call was upgraded to a multi-family structure fire.

Engine 107 arrived on scene and located a sprinkler-controlled fire on the second floor, which had been extinguished by the sprinkler system prior to arrival.

Initial arriving crews located one occupant requiring rescue in the affected unit. The individual was removed from the building, transported by UCH EMS to North Colorado Medical Center, and subsequently flown to Swedish Medical Center in serious but stable condition with second- and third-degree burns and signs of smoke inhalation.

The sprinkler system effectively controlled and extinguished the fire, preventing further spread. Firefighters conducted ventilation and extensive overhaul operations, particularly on the first floor directly below the fire area. Smoke cleared quickly from the second floor. Two residents were displaced within the same building; property management was notified and responded to assist.

The fire remains under investigation by Greeley Fire Department personnel.
