Starting January 1, 2026, Greeley water customers will see their monthly utility bills go up by about $10.23. This change covers water, wastewater, and stormwater services. The 2026 rate change helps the city provide essential services and protects the community from severe weather.

Every dollar collected helps pay for important infrastructure, maintenance, and economic growth. Compared to other utilities, water remains one of the most affordable services people use daily.

Average Monthly Rate Increases

  • Water: $3.20
  • Sewer: $2.00
  • Stormwater: $5.03

Greeley’s Water and Sewer Board approved the new rates for water and wastewater last week. City Council approved the rate increase for stormwater when it finalized its 2026 budget in October.

Building a Safer Greeley

The City of Greeley is working to make its stormwater system better to protect people from severe weather. In May 2024, major storms caused $3.4 million in damage to homes, businesses, and public facilities, leading to a disaster declaration. In July 2025, another severe storm overwhelmed drainage systems at busy intersections. The stormwater rate increase will help maintain current operations and pay for upgrades to the city's infrastructure, improving drainage and cutting down flood risks.

Financial Assistance

City leaders know that the increase in water utility rates could be a challenge for some residents. The City of Greeley offers two programs to assist lower-income families with their utility bills: the Low Income & Food Tax (LIFT) program and the Utility Program (UP).

Residents can apply for both programs with one easy application at GreeleyCO.gov/Lift-Up.

  • Low Income and Food Tax rebate (LIFT) - $100 per qualified person each year
  • Utility Program (UP) - $150 credit toward your household water utility bill
