After a divorce and losing his business and home, Travis turned to alcohol and became homeless. With no support system, he struggled to recover.

At the Housing Navigation Center, he chose to enter rehab and was later connected to the City of Greeley Foundations Program—a turning point in his life.

Through the program, Travis:

  • Got help securing identification documents
  • Stayed in a hotel until housing was secured
  • Gained support through case management

Even after setbacks, including time in jail, the program never gave up on him. While incarcerated, he stayed sober, mentored others, led Bible studies, earned 10 Continuing Education Units, and completed 100+ courses.

Today, Travis is reconnected with family, working full-time at JBS, 8 months sober and attends community events.

He credits the Foundations Program for helping him believe in himself again. He is hopeful of starting a big brother program to help others avoid the path he once walked.

Individuals who’ve been in jail more than once are 13x more likely to be homeless than the general public—and homelessness increases the risk of being jailed again. Housing Programs with supportive services, like Foundations, break that cycle.
