Thought-Provoking Landscape Exhibit Opens Through Feb. 24

The Tointon Gallery’s first exhibit of 2023 challenges visitors to focus on the small and unique aspects of the land.

The opening reception for “Rock, Paper, Fiber, Ink: Thinking about Landscape” goes from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at 651 10th Ave. Enjoy light refreshments and an opportunity to meet the artist behind the work, Margaret Sunday.

The exhibit runs from Jan. 27-Feb. 24. It’s free and open to the public during regular Greeley Recreation Center business hours. It’s also open during Union Colony Civic Center performances for ticket-holding patrons.

About the Exhibit

The exhibit will feature 100 works in four media, exploring various ways of thinking about landscape. Hand-held objects, colorful prints, and woven tapestries all come together to share the artist’s take on altered selections of the landscape. The artist’s sketchbooks on display highlight 25 years of work.

About the Artist

Born in Marshalltown, Iowa, Margaret Sunday experienced a Midwestern childhood. Influenced by multiple summer art camps, she studied shape and discipline at the University in Iowa City, with a double major in Art and English, an Honors Exhibition in Printmaking, and placement in Iowa Writers Workshop Undergraduate classes. An MA followed from Iowa’s Printmaking Department, with Mauricio Lasansky and Keith Achepohl leading the training of artist/teachers.

About the Tointon Gallery

The Tointon Gallery features up to 12 different exhibits annually. It is the only city-run gallery in Greeley. The facility allows visitors to experience the visual arts and enjoy educational and thought-provoking discussions.
