This World Environment Day, Recycle Glass to Give Back

O-I is hosting a $500 competition as part of its GLASS4GOOD program. 

GREELEY, Colo. — On World Environment Day, June 5, Owens-Illinois (O-I) will host a friendly competition among its five GLASS4GOOD programs, including the City of Greeley. The community with the most glass recycling selfies posted on Instagram will earn an additional $500 for their charitable partner.  

Through a partnership with the city, Greeley’s GLASS4GOOD recycling generates donations for United Way of Weld County. Since its inception, the program has raised $11,144. 

How to Participate in the Competition 

• Residents can recycle their glass on June 5 and post a selfie on Instagram. It can be shared in their Instagram story or feed. 
• Users must tag O-I (@oi_glass) and include Greeley’s designated hashtag: #G4GGreeley. 
• The winning community will be determined by the number of selfies posted. 
• The $500 donation will be added to the winning community’s second quarter donation. 

Only posts made on June 5 will be counted and only one post per user is allowed. By posting, tagging O-I and including the designated hashtag, the user grants O-I permission to use the photo in internal and external communications. 

Glass Recycling in Greeley 

O-I developed GLASS4GOOD to increase glass recycling in every community in which they operate. Through collaboration with the City of Greeley, residents can safely and properly recycle their glass at designated collection sites. O-I provides a charitable donation to the United Way of Weld County based on the weight of collected glass.  

Community members can drop off glass recycling, and help raise funds for United Way of Weld County at: 

• Andersen’s Sales & Salvage — 1490 E. 8th Street, Greeley, during business hours 
• Crabtree Brewing Company — 2961 29th Street, Greeley, during daylight hours 

Residents can go to either location, find the blue recycling containers, and deposit: 

• Beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic glass bottles 
• Food glass jars 
• Drinking glasses 

Residents should rinse the glass and remove labels and any non-glass parts or materials before depositing their recycling. 

These glass recycling drop-offs do not accept: 

• Windows 
• Solar panels 
• Heat-resistant glass 
• Computer and TV screens 
• Light bulbs 
• Mirrors 
• Ceramics
