Burn window is dependent on weather and staffing

GREELEY, Colo. — The City of Greeley Natural Areas & Trails Division and Greeley Fire Department are partnering with the Ember Alliance to perform a prescribed burn at Signature Bluffs Natural Area and the Poudre Learning Center during the window from October 7-11.

The Poudre Learning Center (PLC) hosted a prescribed fire training exchange earlier this month. Officials determined to include the PLC in the burn plan due to its proximity to Signature Bluffs and the need for native plant regrowth.

Public safety is the number one priority when planning and conducting prescribed burns. Greeley firefighters and the Ember Alliance will conduct the burn with the oversight of several local and state fire agencies. The exact date will be determined based on weather conditions and the availability of staff and equipment. Residents will be notified via social media of the burn date or if the burn is canceled. Follow the City of Greeley and Greeley Fire Department's social media channels to stay informed.

Prescribed fire smoke may affect a person's health. For more information, visit the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment website. For more information about the City of Greeley’s prescribed burn program, visit greeleygov.com/natural-areas
