PDC Energy Donates $18,000 to Greeley Fire Department
This month, PDC Energy donated $18,000 to the Greeley Fire Department to purchase rescue helmets.
The Greeley Fire Department is an all-hazards, all-response fire department that responds not only to fire and emergency medical calls, but also to incidents involving complex technical rescue situations.
Providing crews of the Greeley Fire Department with new rescue helmets ensures a higher level of safety and enhances the department’s service capabilities within the community.
Many of the current helmets the department had in place had reached their end of useful life, said Fire Chief Brian Kuznik.
“We are grateful for the generous donation and for the continued support that PDC Energy provides to the Greeley Fire Department,” he said.
These helmets will fully equip firefighters with the correct personal protective equipment for many environments with limited space, increased elevation, or moving water. In 2020, Fire Department officials purchased lightweight protective ensembles to utilize in rescue incidents—these helmets will complete the updated ensemble.
In the past, the fire service only had one type of personal protective equipment utilized in every incident. That equipment often referred to as bunker or turnout gear is heavy by design to protect firefighters from heat and toxic gases during a structural fire. However, that gear does not have the best design and function to serve firefighters doing special rescue work.
