GREELEY, Colo. — In 2020, the City of Greeley launched an effort to replace the city’s aging water meters with new ones that are more efficient and meet industry standards.

The city and its contractor, Utility Metering Solutions (UMS), installed 18,550 meters through 2023 and expect to replace another 11,000 meters by the end of 2025. Residents can track their scheduled meter replacement at greeleygov.com/services/ws/water-budget/metering

As part of the rollout, the city is inviting Greeley Water customers to combine these new meters with the free WaterSmart customer portal to maximize water efficiency and reduce water waste.

About WaterSmart

WaterSmart enables Greeley residents to manage their finances and water budget with real-time data. Residents can register for the free tool at greeleygov.com/WaterSmart, using their water utility bill account number and zip code. The WaterSmart portal also works with the old meters and is available in both English and Spanish.

With WaterSmart, residents receive an email, text or voicemail alerting them of a potential water leak. These alerts give users time to find and fix problems to prevent further property damage. Plus, users can compare your water usage with other households to track progress in reducing water waste.
