GREELEY, Colo. — The episode “Uncovering Dearfield,” from Rocky Mountain PBS’s “Colorado Experience” series recently won a regional Emmy Award. Part of the episode was filmed at the Greeley History Museum and includes interviews with museum staff and local experts who helped tell Dearfield’s story.

Dearfield, a historic Black farming community in Weld County, was founded in 1910. The episode discusses its importance in the history of the American West. It features interviews with Chris Bowles, Ph. D., the Greeley Museums manager, and George Junne, Ph.D., a member of the Greeley Museums Advisory Board and a professor at the University of Northern Colorado.

“We’re proud to have a part in preserving Dearfield and sharing its story,” said Bowles. “This award shows how local history matters and highlights the important work done by Rocky Mountain PBS.”

The Greeley History Museum is located at 714 8th Street. It's open to visitors Thursday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information about the museum and current exhibits, visit greeleymuseums.com.
