28th Street Closure Extended Due to Weather

City officials extended the closure of 28^th Street between 71^st and 65^th avenues through Tuesday, Aug. 2, due to weather.

To replace a leaking water line, work crews closed 28^th Street last week.

Crews replaced the leaking water line, but the recent heavy rain has required crews to adjust the timeline for re-paving the street.

After a leak on July 20 required a street closure, water distribution crews discovered a second leak the next day. After investigation, officials determined the damaged section of pipe needed replacement.

This construction closure will maintain local access to the closed section of 28^th Street. Officials ask drivers to detour along U.S. 34.
