The City of Greeley recently received signatures for a petition seeking to repeal Ordinance 15, 2025. The city also received a protest against the petition. Petition Process
On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, a petition was submitted containing 8279 signatures, 5538 of which were valid. The City Clerk’s Office worked diligently to process and review them. On Wednesday, August 13, the City Clerk issued an Initial Statement of Sufficiency for the petition.
Next Steps
The petition will be scheduled to go before council to place the item on the ballot, which must occur no later than September 5 to meet county and state deadlines.
Protest Process
On Friday, August 8, 2025, a protest was submitted by four Greeley citizens against the petition.
Next Steps
Following the submission of a protest, a public hearing process is initiated. This hearing is set to occur within 5 to 10 days after notifying all parties involved, allowing for a timely review of the protest. During the public hearing, the hearing officer will evaluate the arguments presented regarding the protest. The hearing must be held within 25 days from the date the petition was submitted, and the hearing officer must make a determination within five days of the hearing.
