Suspicious Package Investigated; Determined to be Harmless

GREELEY, Colo. —  On Friday, January 23, at approximately 5:15p.m., Greeley Police officers responded to reports of a suspicious package in the 700 block of 15th Street.

Officers arrived on scene, and as a precaution, evacuated residents of a nearby apartment complex and issued a shelter-in-place for the surrounding area. Greeley-Evans Transit responded with a bus to provide warmth for displaced residents.

The Greeley/Weld Regional Bomb Squad examined the item and determined it was a discarded object and not hazardous. No injuries were reported and the shelter-in-place was lifted at 7:45p.m.

Residents are reminded that if they encounter a suspicious item, they should not touch it and should report it immediately by calling 911.

No further details will be released today.
