City of Greeley Council Approves Ballot Measure to Increase Sales and Use Tax by 0.6%

Revenue would support designated community capital improvement projects

GREELEY, Colo. — The Greeley City Council voted 5 to 2 in favor of a ballot measure for voter consideration of a proposed sales and use tax increase of 0.6%. This would amount to an additional 60 cents per $100 spent, excluding grocery food purchases.

The anticipated revenue from this increase is estimated at $20 million in the first year. The funds generated would be allocated to various community capital improvement projects in Greeley, including:

  • Downtown Civic Campus Project: This includes the development of a new City Hall, public plaza, parking garage, and associated infrastructure and amenities.
  • West Greeley Catalyst Project: This focuses on the construction of an arena, youth ice center, water park, hotel, and related infrastructure.
  • Recreational, Cultural, and Service Facilities: This encompasses upgrades to existing facilities and the development of new infrastructure to serve the growing community.
  • City Parks and Outdoor Spaces: This includes enhancements to parks, playgrounds, swimming pools, trails, and other outdoor areas to increase accessibility and enjoyment for residents.

Greeley voters will have the opportunity to weigh in on this measure during the upcoming election on Nov. 3, 2026.
