GREELEY, Colo. — Greeley’s annual Independence Day parade will travel downtown on Saturday, July 4, at 9 a.m. While many residents enjoy reserving a spot early along 10th Avenue, the City of Greeley asks community members to follow these guidelines.

Help support City staff to maintain the beauty and safety of the areas along the parade route:

  • Do not save any spaces until after 3 p.m. on July 2.
  • Don’t place any kind of tape, strings attached to stakes, tarps, plastic or blankets on the grass, sidewalks or other hard surfaces. They become tripping hazards and cause damage to grass and solid surfaces. Because these items impede park staff’s ability to continue with maintenance, they will be removed.
  • Do not use any kind of paint on the grass, sidewalks or other hard surfaces to save a spot along the route.
  • Use chalk when marking spaces on sidewalks and hard surface areas, and nothing on grassy areas.
  • Be respectful of private property along the parade route. Stay off of lawns and driveways that are not your own and avoid blocking access. Please be sure to pick up any trash before you leave.

16th Street

The sidewalks at the intersection of 16th Street and 10th Avenue will remain open for walking and viewing the parade. As parade floats pass through the 16th Street roundabout, they will travel closer to public viewing areas. For the safety of parade participants and viewers, please stay behind the marked areas within the roundabout. These areas are marked with pedestrian guardrails. Barriers should not be used as seating or to mark off or reserve spots.

Businesses along 16th Street are open and excited to welcome parade-goers.

Parking and Street Closures

Many downtown streets will be temporarily closed the morning of July 4 for the parade. Please use nearby public parking lots and plan ahead.
