GREELEY, Colo. — The City of Greeley and Wingfoot Water Resources have teamed up to create a new "Primary Employer Water Bank." This exciting initiative aims to provide companies with a reliable and affordable water supply, helping them grow and create jobs in our community.

Greeley has always invested in its water resources to ensure its water infrastructure is strong and ready for the future. The city’s 2021 purchase of the Terry Ranch Aquifer Storage and Recovery project from Wingfoot demonstrates its commitment to and investment in this strategy. This project helps protect our water supply during droughts and provides approximately 12,100 raw water credits for new developments in Greeley.

The Primary Employer Water Bank is different from other standard water offerings. It is specifically designed to lower the costs for industries that create jobs by selling goods or services to statewide or national markets. With this partnership, Greeley and Wingfoot can provide raw water at lower prices to these types of businesses looking to build or expand in our city. This strategy aligns with Greeley Mayor Dale Hall’s vision to drive job creation and strengthen the local economy.

“We are excited to advance this agreement and create more economic opportunities through our relationship with Wingfoot Water. The Water Bank and Wingfoot Raw Water Credit program build upon our tradition of providing reliable, cost-effective water services for industrial customers like Leprino Foods, Kodak, State Farm and JBS Corporate,” said Sean Chambers, Director of Water Utilities.

Along with the Primary Employer Water Bank, Wingfoot is committed to selling raw water credits at preferential pricing to Primary Employers.

“This agreement represents a deliberate, shared commitment to Greeley’s economic future,” said Wingfoot Water's Kyle Akin. “By reserving available Wingfoot water assets specifically for Primary Employers, we have removed a barrier to job growth. This continued partnership aims to establish Greeley as the most water-secure and cost-competitive destination for job-creating industries on the Front Range.”
