GREELEY, Colo. — Starting next Tuesday, October 7, the City of Greeley will introduce new security steps at City Council meetings and work sessions. These changes are designed to keep meetings safe and secure for everyone.

“City Council meetings are an important way for residents to share their voices and stay involved in local government,” said Chief Public Safety Officer Rick Ruggieri. “These proactive safety protocols will help us ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone while keeping our meetings open and accessible to the public.”

What’s Changing

  • Regular City Council meetings and work sessions held at City Center South, 1001 11th Avenue, will now have updated security measures.
  • After 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, all visitors should use the west side doors and follow posted signs.
  • Visitors will walk through a metal detector when entering.
  • Officers may check bags upon entry.
  • Attendees are encouraged to limit bags and personal items and to arrive a little earlier to allow time for security screening.

The City of Greeley appreciates the public’s patience as these new measures begin. These steps are common in many communities and are meant to ensure meetings remain a safe space for all.

Regular meetings occur on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Work sessions are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Meetings start at 6:00 p.m. All meetings follow a hybrid format, allowing residents to join in person or online.
