GREELEY, Colo. — The City of Greeley announced Monday that Raymond C. Lee III, who served as the city manager since 2022, will be leaving his position to explore new opportunities. The City Council held a special meeting on November 10 to accept his resignation. Lee’s final day is scheduled for December 2. The city thanks him for all his work in helping our community.

The City Council voted 7-0 in favor of appointing Brian McBroom, the city’s current director of community development, to be the acting city manager starting Wednesday, December 3.

“The City Council is dedicated to selecting the most suitable candidate for the permanent City Manager position, ensuring that this individual will prioritize the community's best interests and strategically advance Greeley's development,” said Mayor John Gates.

Acting City Manager Brian McBroom, will assist in city operations and provide support while the Council is searching for a new City Manager. He will ensure that important projects and plans remain on track, with a focus on effective governance, community engagement, and delivering quality services to everyone.

Brian McBroom brings experience as the Acting City Manager, including almost nine years as City Manager of the City of Commerce City. He holds a degree in sociology, with a focus on urban studies, from the University of Michigan.

The City Council will launch a nationwide search for a new city manager to fill the permanent leadership role. More information about the timeline for hiring and how the community can get involved will be shared as things move along.
