Updated October 13, 2025
GREELEY, Colo. — The City of Greeley's Natural Areas & Trails Division and Greeley Fire Department are partnering with the Ember Alliance for a prescribed burn. Together, they will conduct a burn at Signature Bluffs Natural Area. The burn window is October 13 - 17. Exact dates will be posted to Greeley Fire and City of Greeley social media channels.
Prescribed Burn Location and Closures
Two areas inside Signature Bluffs Natural Area are planned for prescribed burns. Both areas sit along the Cache la Poudre River. One area is in the western section of the natural area, and the other is closer to the eastern trailhead. Weather conditions and vegetation moisture levels will determine which areas will be burned.
During burn operations, the trailhead parking lot will be closed. The Poudre River Trail will also be closed from 71st Avenue to 83rd Avenue.
Safety Information
Public safety is the number one priority when planning and conducting prescribed burns. Greeley firefighters and the Ember Alliance will conduct the burn, overseen by several local and state fire agencies. The exact date will be determined based on weather conditions and the availability of staff and equipment.
